In 2007 CultureMesh produced The FUNeral for the Minnesota Fringe Festival.

Though both artistic directors have been acting, directing, writing and putting on plays for many years, this was their first attempt to work as a collaborative unit, and thus formed “CultureMesh Collective.”

The FUNeral was an attempt to mesh together the complicated style of comic masked theatre known as ” Commedia Dell Arte” with the music of modern Hip-Hop Theatre. We took six actors of diverse backgrounds and set off training them in mask, rhythm and style.

The process was meant to be an experiment, but the eventual product was more than we had hoped for, a rich, quirky, and layered piece that was very different from what audiences were accustomed to seeing. The response we got from the piece is was excellent. Below are just a few of the things people said about The FUNeral.
